Blaengwen Wind Farm 13-11-2008
2008. Lee Wakemans are pleased to announce their involvement in the procurement of a 10 turbine wind farm on farmland north east of Alltwalis, 12km north of Carmarthen. Lee Wakemans will be providing Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management services to Mechanical and Electrical contractor, SWALEC. The 10 turbine site will generate enough electricity for more than 16,770 homes.
The site was selected after a lengthy process to identify potential wind farm sites across the UK, taking into account landscape sensitivities as well as planning, environmental and technial criteria. The turbines will be a maximum of 110.5 metres high to tip of the blades. In additional to the turbines, the wind farm will consist of a landscaped substation and access tracks.
Site works are due to commence in November 2009 and are based on a 16 month programme, with a construction budget of £30m.
