13 November 2008.  Lee Wakemans are pleased to announce their involvement in the procurement of a 10 turbine wind farm on farmland north east of Alltwalis, 12km north of Carmarthen.  Lee Wakemans will be providing Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management services to Mechanical and Electrical contractor, SWALEC.  The 10 turbine site will generate enough electricity for more than 16,770 homes.

The site was selected after a lengthy process to identify potential wind farm sites across the UK, taking into account landscape sensitivities as well as planning, environmental and technial criteria.  The turbines will be a maximum of 110.5 metres high to tip of the blades.  In additional to the turbines, the wind farm will consist of a landscaped substation and access tracks.

Site works are due to commence in November 2009 and are based on a 16 month programme, with a construction budget of £30m.

26 August 2008.  Development of Linear Accelerators, Bunkers 7 & 8 
 
Lee Wakemans are delighted to have been appointed by Velindre NHS Trust to act as Quantity Surveyors for the development of its two new linear accelerators along with associated complementary accommodation at the Velindre Cancer Centre, Whitchurch, Cardiff.
 
The scheme is to be procured under a traditional form of contract with phased completion and includes undertaking a series of enabling works to the existing car park to open up the site for the development. It is anticipated that the development will commence on site March 2009 and will be completed by March 2010. The estimated works cost is £4.3M excluding VAT.
Ethan King   30 July 2008.  Lee Wakemans are pleased to announce that Ethan King has joined the practice as an Associate.  His knowledge, experience and skills will assist in the continuing development of the practice as our work profile continues to increase and diversify despite the current climate.
Pontypridd Regeneration  

24 June 2008.  Pontypridd Regeneration.  Lee Wakemans have just been appointed as advisors to the Welsh Assembly Government for the Regenration of Pontypridd Town Centre.  The ambitious scheme seeks to modernise the retail centre attracting major retailers to the area.  This is part of a comprehensive overhaul for Pontypridd which will see more than £50m of investment from the Welsh Assembly.

Novotel Hotel, Liverpool  

10 June 2008. Novotel Hotel, Liverpool. Lee Wakemans are pleased to be providing as Employer’s Agent service to Accor hotel group for this prestigious £16m project in the heart of Liverpool’s regeneration area. This is one of several projects for which Lee Wakemans are providing this service. The Liverpool scheme is due for completion in 2009.

Constellation Europe, Avonmouth  
6 May 2008. Lee Wakemans are pleased to announce their appointment for cost management services for the £4m mechanical and electrical installation for a new distribution centre, for wine distributor, Constellation Europe.
The development is the largest drinks warehouse in Europe at 35 acres, equivalent in size to 13 football pitches and will fill 120 million bottles of wine per year.
